A brilliantly atmospheric travelogue in music and words, Christine Hanson’s The Cremation of Sam McGee celebrates both the Scottish ancestry of Yukon poet Robert W. Service and his greatest creation, the irascible, ill-fated and fascinating Sam McGee.

Christine Hanson’s musical adaptation of Service’s famous poem travels in the imagination to the frozen Yukon frontier where the cellist’s original compositions take the listener across the snow in tandem with this quirky, tragicomic tale.

Narrated with conspicuous relish by Michael Marra, this interpretation of
The Cremation of Sam McGee is a chilling, enthralling and entertaining work.

The music that accompanies the narration is played by the Sam McGee
ensemble, which features Christine on cello and eight of Scotland's finest traditional musicians. A must have in any Service enthusiast’s collection.
