God made a heart of gold...
RWS wrote a poem called "You" which was set to the music of Mentor Crosse. I have a copy of the original sheet music produced by The John Church Company with a copyright date of 1927. It reads:
To my Dear Wife"YOU"God made a heart of gold,Shining and sweet and true,Gave it a home of fairest mould,Blest it and called it, You.God gave the roses its grace of glowAnd the lark its radiant glee,But better than all, I know, I knowGod gave you, Heart, to me.Robert W. Service(Copyright by Dodd Mead Company)
This poem can also be found in Service's Sunshine , VI, in "Rhymes of a Rolling Stone.
