1943-1944: Robert works on his autobiography.

1945 Spring: Robert is invited to the premiere of the international production of The Belle of the Yukon starring Gypsy Rose Lee, Randolph Scott, and Dinah Shore. Robert is in his element, seated between Gypsy and Dinah.

1945: Ploughman of the Moon, An Adventure Into Memory is published; the first volume of Robert's autobiography.

1945 December: The war over, the family returns to France; to Marseilles and then to Nice.

1946: On a visit to Dream Raven Robert finds the house looted and in shambles but still standing. In the course of the ensuing summers Robert restores the house.

1946 Summer: Robert, Germaine and Iris move to Monte Carlo.

1946-1947: Robert writes the second volume of his autobiography, Harper of Heaven.

1948: Harper of Heaven is published.

1948: The family travels to Vancouver so Robert can attend the International Sourdoughs' Association's three-day convention to celebrate the golden jubilee of The Trail of Ninety-Eight.

1949: Songs of a Sunlover is published. From now until his death Robert turns out a collection just about every year. "I'm just a writer of verse. Can't understand how amazingly easy it is. I just go for a walk and come back with a poem in my pocket."

1950: Rhymes of a Roughneck is published.

1951: Lyrics of a Lowbrow is published.

1952: Iris Service, now 35, is married to James Llewellyn Davies, manager of the Monte Carlo branch of Lloyd's Bank.

1952: Why Not Grow Young? or Living for Longevity and Rhymes of a Rebel are published.

1952 October 15th: Anne is born to Iris and James. Robert's first grandchild.

1953: Songs For My Supper is published.

1954 October 12th: Armelle, Robert's second granddaughter is born.
